What “threshold moments” have shaped your relationship with the world around you?

At 40 years old I started a new job working for the catholic church. I’d been in a c- level position in the semiconductor industry. It was interesting to lean into my faith but also awful to live in another patriarchal world.

I made a decision, a life changing one... again. Leaving two marriages was heart changing and lesson in forgiveness. And today 8 years later as pack and repack my car... trying to fit supplies for 56 senior rescue dogs and clothing for hopeful job interviews... and a camp chair to sit on... I realize much of it won't fit. Its a 12 year old sedan, named Richard Parker with no air conditioning and I am driving him across the country. By myself equipped with triple aaa and Google maps and a location for a daughter to watch. I leave GA, a high paying job my family and friends. To start a new life at the age of 63 to move to NM. I know no one, and I don't have work yet. I do have courage. I have faith. And I am on my way...

I cannot tell anymore when a door opens or closes, I just trust the threshold space.

Standing on line milling bodies all around where did they come from? Where are they going? Is a door open to Ada? As opening the door to a book you jump into an adventure you cannot anticipate feet first, eyes open.

- Nancy Maret

Experience has taught me when the heat of life’s unending flames blaze and the smoke dries the mucus of my nostrils, it’s time to walk through the boundary toward clarity and freshness.
