Derek Halm is a postdoctoral scholar at the Institute for Practical Ethics at UC San Diego. He is an environmental ethicist, philosopher of biology, and herpetologist. He enjoys hiking, photography, and looking for herptiles, particularly snakes.
Derek will be researching and presenting on the history of American bullfrog introduction in the Western United States while in residence. For his public talk, he will be presenting newspaper accounts and government documents that outline the import and spread of these amphibians while touching on the long-term implications of their spread, management, and the philosophical dimensions of a changing world. |
