UNM's Accelerating Resilience Innovations in Drylands Institute (ARID Institute) enhances the resilience of communities, ecosystems, and the economy to climate change through inclusive and equitable research, education and collaborative partnerships in New Mexico and drylands worldwide. The Leopold Writing Program was proud to partner with the ARID Institute on our 2025 Annual Leopold Lecture, A Reverence for Rivers: Luna Leopold's Call for a Water Ethic, featuring Cynthia Barnett.

The Albuquerque Wildlife Federation is an all-volunteer non-profit organization focused on New Mexico's wildlife and habitat resources. Among AWF's dedicated and able volunteers are wildlife experts, public land stewards, sportsmen and hunters, and most especially, ordinary citizens committed to conservation of nature's wealth for personal satisfaction and for future generations. The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with AWF to conserve New Mexico's wildlife and support conservation education.

The Albuquerque Public Library Foundation is a 501c-3 nonprofit, established in 2013 by long-time library professionals and volunteers who envisioned creating more opportunities for the Public Library Albuquerque Bernalillo County than could be provided by bond issues and any other public monies.

The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation to uplift education, literature, and access to public libraries.

The mission of the Aldo Leopold Foundation (ALF) is to foster the land ethic through the legacy of Aldo Leopold. Based in Baraboo, Wisconsin, ALF manages, interprets, and preserves the renowned Leopold Shack and Farm National Historic Landmark, which receives thousands of visitors each year. The Leopold Writing Program is honored to partner with ALF to uplift Leopold's legacy by inspiring the next generation of conservationists to explore the land ethic through the written and spoken word.

​Founded in 1984, Bookworks is a locally-owned and operated independent bookstore located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.  The Leopold Writing Program and Bookworks partner to present the Writing the Wild series, a collaborative speaker series focused on nature and writing. We are proud to have Bookworks as our official Bookstore partner, selling Annual Lecture books at our Annual Lecture.

Environmental Education of New Mexico (EENM) believes that every New Mexican should have access to high-quality, engaging, and meaningful outdoor and environmental education opportunities. The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with EENM, offering New Mexicans the opportunity to deepen the connection to and education about our natural environment.

Established in 1905, the US Forest Service is the nation’s foremost federal forestry organization. The agency is a world leader in forest research, providing leadership in the sustainable management, conservation, use, and stewardship of natural and cultural resources on national forests and grasslands in the United States. The Leopold Writing Program is honored to partner with the US Forest Service in our Aldo and Estella Leopold Residency.

The Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico​ has been recognizing exceptional teachers in New Mexico since 1994. Their vision is to improve education in our state by inspiring and engaging teachers through professional development programs and our community.
The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with the Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico to help uplift education in our communities.

KUNM is a public radio station broadcasting FM 89.9 MHz from high atop Sandia Crest, with broadcasts originating from the third floor of Oñate Hall. The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with KUNM to share local events and uplift the cultural landscape of Albuquerque.

​Designed in 1932 by New Mexico's foremost architect, John Gaw Meem, the "Father of Santa Fe Style," Los Poblanos is located on an organic farm in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. A model of preservation and sustainability, the farm's vision helps shape the daily menu and a collection of handcrafted artisan products. 
The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with Los Poblanos, whose work and mission align with our own. Los Poblanos graciously sponsored and hosted our 2025 Annual Leopold Lecturer.

Founded in 2002, the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC) is working to preserve New Mexico’s unique and diverse land heritage for conservation purposes and the benefit of local communities, the public, and future generations. The Leopold Writing Program is honored to partner with NMLC for our Aldo and Estella Residency talks.

The New Mexico Wilderness Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) grassroots organization dedicated to the protection, restoration, and continued enjoyment of New Mexico’s wildlands and wilderness areas.
The Leopold Writing Program is proud to partner with the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance to support New Mexican's connection to and protection of natural lands and to partner on our
 2025 Annual Leopold Lecture, A Reverence for Rivers: Luna Leopold's Call for a Water Ethic, featuring Cynthia Barnett.

The Santa Fe International Literary Festival is a multi-day event that celebrates language and storytelling by bringing together world-renowned authors to discuss important issues through conversations, readings, and book signings. In 2025, the Leopold Writing Program partnered with the Santa Fe International Literary Festival to present Write Your Story. Modeled off of our Leopold Writing Contest, this interactive writing prompt activity invited Festival attendees to consider a quote by one of the Festival authors alongside an environmentally-focused prompt, inviting them to write a submission.

The Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club is a volunteer-led organization representing  more than 10,000 members in New Mexico and West Texas. Our mission to is to explore, enjoy and protect the planet, and we prioritize protecting our climate, air, water, wildlife and public lands in New Mexico and West Texas. The Leopold Writing Program was proud to partner with the Rio Grande Chapter of the Sierra Club on our 2025 Annual Leopold Lecture, A Reverence for Rivers: Luna Leopold's Call for a Water Ethic, featuring Cynthia Barnett.

The SOMOS place for words in Taos is 108 Civic Plaza Drive, within the emerging Civic Plaza Cultural Corridor. Our space has a large room that doubles as a book store and a salon for literary gatherings. SOMOS supports and nurtures the literary arts, written and spoken, by providing both place and resources for writers, readers, and learners while honoring the cultural diversity of Taos and the Southwest. The Leopold Writing Program is honored to partner with SOMOS for our Aldo and Estella Residency talks.
